Data Robotics BeyondRAID addresses these two limitations, delivering flexibility without downtime.  BeyondRAID is built on an advanced storage virtualization platform that operates at the block level and selects the proper RAID algorithm based on real time data protection needs.

Expansion is as simple as inserting an additional drive.  BeyondRAID automatically recognizes the new drive and expands the storage.

DataRobotics Drobo NAS and SAN Products

The DroboElite is a VMware Certified iSCSI SAN for small and medium sized businesses.  It offers 8 drive bays, dual Gigabit iSCSI ports, up to 14.55TB of storage, and supports multiple VMware hosts. The DroboPro offers the same 8 drive bays but with a single Gigabit iSCSI, FireWire 800, and USB 2.0 ports.  It is intended as SAN storage for a single host computer.
The Drobo FS is  5 drive bay Gigabit Network Attach Storage (NAS) and offers up to 9.09TB of storage.
